We just received our LOA yesterday which means we are getting closer to travel! I must admit that we are very excited about this, but at the same time a little anxious as we are still in the process of collecting all our needed funds too. Some days our faith is great and we remember that God will provide all our needs (Philippians 4:19) and that nothing is impossible with Him (Luke 1:37), but other days the doubt sets in and we begin to wonder how this is really all going to come together. At this point, we are about $18k short still and it looks like we should be on schedule to travel sometime towards the end of October or early November. But, we just need the faith of a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20), right? And that I can handle!
We have applied for MANY grants and have been awarded grants from two so far and denied from two so far too. We currently have four more grants that we are still waiting to get an answer from and we have one last minute "Hail Mary" grant we are applying for right now (all our paperwork is due by August 15th!!!!).
Our current fundraiser is a China cookie cutter. They would make a GREAT gift for anyone that has adopted from China in the past or is currently in the process. They can be used at Christmas time, Chinese New Year or even Gotcha Day anniversaries. They are stainless steel China cookie cutters (approximately 4" x 3 3/4") and we are selling them for $10 with free shipping.
